Artist Statement

As a child Barbara Johns admits to never being able to leave the house without her crayons.  She has always had a need to create.  Studying with watercolorists she admires has helped her to hone her technique and define her style.  She attempts to record on paper the subjects that talk to her, subjects that grab her imagination, using color and design to create paintings with life.   Painting with watercolor helps her achieve this because of the fluidity and spontaneity of the medium.
