Biography

Madeline Milford became an Akron resident in August 1994. Saying goodbye to University Heights in Cleveland, Ohio she started a new life with husband Richard in Cuyahoga Falls.

In May, 2001 downsizing caused Madeline to take an early retirement. What to do?! At Richard’s suggestion she registered for her first art class at Quirk Center with Mark Giangaspero. Madeline began with acrylic portraits and continued taking weekly instruction for three years. When Mark left Ohio, Madeline’s art life stopped.

Eighteen months later a meeting with artist Elinore Korow brought Madeline back to the art world. With Elinore’s encouragement Madeline began classes at the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center. She soon became passionate about graphite portraits.

Madeline continued her classroom instruction and has attended classes with Dino Massaroni, Sally Heston and returning Mark Giangaspero. She has explored working in colored pencil, conte and pen and ink.

Madeline has served as a juror on the Ohio Mart Exhibitor Committee for Stan Hywet Hall Gardens. She sits on the Board of Directors of the Cuyagoha Valley Art Center and serves as Gallery 732 Board Vice-chairman of the Akron Woman’s City Club.
